Local matters

Lidl operates many stores across the country in residential areas. We are keen to ensure our new store plans respect the amenity of our neighbours as we hope they will shop with us and value Lidl as part of the community.

The plans have been carefully designed to reflect the location and work within the parameters of the site. We are sharing draft plans for comment and feedback, so would greatly value your thoughts.

Lighting

Car park lighting is switched off overnight and is controlled by a lux light sensor during trading hours. Light is directed away from neighbouring properties, and special light shields prevent light spillage.

Landscaping

Our landscaping scheme has been designed to provide biodiversity benefits and also help screen the site from residential neighbours to the north. This includes tree and shrub planting to ensure the site is more attractive and enhances the entrance.

Store design and location

Acoustic fencing is proposed to minimise noise and reduce visual impact for nearby residents. This is located nearby to the internal delivery bay. A full Noise Impact Assessment will be included as part of the planning application. This document will be reviewed by the Local Authority.

Access

The site benefits from close proximity to residential neighbourhoods. This means more people will be able to walk or cycle to our store rather than rely on private vehicle transport. The Lidl can therefore operate as a community foodstore which is accessible to a full range of local residents.
